Early Learning Centre Programs

Early Learning

Early learning at Mount Scopus College is focused on the needs of the child. With our toddler program, Gan Gani, and 3 and 4 year old Kindergarten, we set the all-important foundation for each child's physical, social, emotional, cognitive and spiritual development.

As a deliverer of the Primary Years Programme of the International Baccalaureate Organisation, our kinders develops lifelong learning skills, independence and responsibility in children. And as a Jewish school, Jewish beliefs and values are embedded in the curriculum and across every learning area.

The environment is warm and nurturing, the atmosphere relaxed and happy while real and important learning takes place. And the learning isn't just colours and numbers; we impart life skills, values, and a love of our Jewish identity and traditions.

Mount Scopus offers Kindergarten at two locations: the Szalmuk Family Early Learning Centre at Gandel Besen House in St Kilda East and the Fink Karp Ivany Early Learning Centre in Caulfield South. These centres are government approved long day care facilities and offer outside school hours care and a holiday program.

Little Learners

The Scopus Little Learners program is a new long day care program for children in the year before they commence Lower Kinder.

It offers inquiry-based learning to develop and extend children’s natural curiosity. We know that the strongest phase of learning is in the early years up to the age of three, and this is also one of the most important phases in their emotional development, as they learn about other people.

Gan Gani

Mount Scopus offers an innovative program, Gan Gani, for 2 year olds who are due to enter lower kindergarten the following year. Gan Gani is an educational program designed to enhance each child's physical, social and cognitive development.

The program incorporates fun and educationally sound activities including music and movement, storytelling and drama in a friendly and nurturing Jewish environment. Chagim are introduced and experienced through songs, stories and games, and the highlight of each session is Kabbalat Shabbat. Children enjoy a special time with their parents and interaction with other toddlers.

Gan Gani is held weekly during term time at Mount Scopus College kindergartens at the Szalmuk Family Early Learning Centre and Fink Karp Ivany Campus.
