Scopus unveils new Vertical Garden
The next stage of the highly successful Scopus Kitchen Garden project, the Vertical Succulent Garden was opening by Berry Liberman and Danny Almagor, as part of celebrations to mark the 25th anniversary of the Mount Scopus College Foundation.
The Kitchen Garden has been an active and colourful addition to the primary school curriculum over the past four years, with students involved from the early design phase, through to construction of the garden and planting of seasonal vegetables and trees, and now harvesting and cooking with their produce.
The ongoing learning from this project will see students designing a watering drip system that will be operated by a simple solar energy battery. Students will also have ongoing lessons about the value of such a garden philosophy and the benefits to our growing communities as land space becomes a premium.
